Today we have many debates in the Internet over the extraordinary breakthrough in science, such as "cloning". And also as a result of natural resistance we have people who are talking against it from the statements of philosophy, religion, sociology and etc.

People in the 21st century are trying to under- stand whether these new reality will enhance life and bring it up to unprecedented level, or whether this new thing will lead us to the destruction of the society and life as we know it.

Public opinion on cloning is still vastly divided. The arguments are many and they are focused on pros and cons of this idea, like: providing better research capabilities to find cures for many current diseases; bringing back friends or relatives who has passed away by cloning them into an identical copy; giving children for woman who is single and doesn't wish to have an artificial insemination; but on the other hand is: the choice of physical, emotive or moral behavior leads us to reducing genetic diversity; cloning is unethical; human cloning could make it possible to appear an another dictator; human cloning would alter the very essence of humanity and on and on and on.

But science fiction literature and movies did already show us a pretty divers scenarios of what could happen this way, and after all, the culture artefacts plays the key role in introduc- tion and exposure the new way of life.

The main idea of this album is to show some possible directions as a results of human cloning, expressed in the science fiction narrative. Music tries to present sonically an utopian society that desperately wants to achieve a state of stability, at the same time any loss of individuality during this action and rejecting of all natural-spiritual-cosmic process- es are accepted. Human cloning's answer for the main question of life is "maintenance of well-being", but it forgets to pointed out what is human being itself.

As soon as individuality and emotions have been eliminated, the chain of dehumanization actions enter the field of art and personal expression. Since no one can express emotions in these new societies, individual expression is retarded. The lack of a cultural environment leads to the cultural infertility, artistic wasteland. This new human society sure has a very good things such as no war, or suffering or any social conflicts, little decease effect. But we claim that it is very high price for the no love, family, art, religion and history. There is only stability, identity and community.

The album was composed, arranged, produced, recorded and mixed at GT Headquarters in Mexico City. Most of the compositions and arrangements were made at midnight because I find quite interesting and seductive the silence that prevails during of this time of a day. When I was composing-arrang- ing-producing this album my main goal was to achieve musically a sound narrative that could at some point explain an idea without using words or convey a sense of human cloning and its consequences; yet the real difficulty laid in creating the whole album from musical fragments and samples.

Burstbot is a project of Marco Fierro, Mexico City-based musician, art director, designer and photographer. 23-year-career was a blitz through myriad genre shifts and musical accomplices. An admitted music obsessive, Marco Fierro is the maker of his own music style Bot-Pop which is perhaps a proposal to think / laugh about the contemporary music categorization.

Marco Fierro has been making music by playing drums in grindcore, death metal and punk bands most of the 90’s. Then in this new century he got himself interested into free improvisa- tion, drone, noise and ambient. Marco Fierro also started to experiment / taught himself to play synthesizer making it his main instrument nowadays.

Former member and co-founder of Stalaktos. Marco Fierro is an active member of Oblique Quartet with multi-instrumentalist Ron Ander- son, bass player Carlos Fierro and drummer Azael González. Marco enjoys being involved in ongoing quests of fresh and challenging musical experiences.

Burstbot is a project that I founded back in 2012 and before that year I was against all type of computer- based music. Why? Because I’m a musician who’s been working 23 years with real instruments (drums and lately analog synthesiz- ers, contact microphones and radio) and I couldn’t considered to make music using a computer-based DAW. Until 2011 when I met Holly Herndon, Mat Dryhurst and Scott Arford here in Mexico City —with their now disbanded project Total Accomplishment — there I realized that computer-based music could be done great. The self-imposed taboo was totally erased, especially by the debut album of Holly Herndon “Movement” for RVNG Intl on Novem- ber 13th, 2012.
